The Natural Park of the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche is located north of the province of Huelva and has an area of almost 470,000 acres. The population density is very low and its 41,000 inhabitants are divided between the towns and villages of 28 municipalities.
The Natural Park is biosphere reserve, is adhered to the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (CETS), it is a place of Community Interest (SCI Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche) is Special Protection Area (SPA Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche) and also has the seal of certification Starlight (optimal place for stargazing)


Just for the mild climate and high rainfall, the magnificent scenery of the park ranges from the extensive meadows of oaks, through forests of chestnut trees and traditional riparian forest. You can find the thicket of mastic, heather, strawberry tree or thyme.
Both productive orchards of the Sierra as pig farming, sheep and cattle are worked in a traditional way and its products are mainly for local consumption.
Gastronomy occupies a prominent place in the park, with reference Ham Jabugo Protected Designation of Origin (PDO Jabugo). Personal and renowned goat cheese, and chestnut produced by the mass of chestnut trees, also represent a historical resource of the Sierra, both product sales as wages collection.
The province of Huelva also offers the possibility of visiting natural treasures such as the Rio Tinto mines, the Donana National Park, incredible white sand beaches open to the Atlantic, a Company of salt that is a reference in the country, companies producing canned and cured derivatives seafood, etc …
